Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
At The Parish of Our Lady and St Therese, Essendon we consider the safety and wellbeing of all persons to be our highest priority.
We acknowledge that children, young people and vulnerable adults may require additional safeguards to promote their safety and wellbeing and promote their participation.
Clergy, employees and volunteers are committed to upholding the right to safety of all persons, and participating in a creating a culture of safety supported by policies, practices and procedures that strive to prevent abuse in the first instance and to respond appropriately and effectively if abuse does occur.
At St Therese’s we strive to create an inclusive and welcoming parish which enables its people to grow and develop in their faith free from abuse, harm and neglect.
ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST MEET THREE SAFEGUARDING REQUIREMENTS
- Volunteers must hold a current Working With Children Check and must list each parish where you volunteer. Please add St Therese’s or OLN to your WWCC check here: https://service.vic.gov.au/services/working-with-children
- Volunteers must complete the CAM Safeguarding Essentials Training Certification every three years: Click link here
- Volunteers must read and acknowledge The Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct every three years. Access the Code of Conduct through the online Safeguarding Essentials Training platform This may be done without completing the training.
